The accusation that the Coronavirus originated from a laboratory in Wuhan is gaining ground across the globe. Along with the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and Taiwan, as also France, Germany, and Russian researchers, analysts and journalists have started castigating China over the Coronavirus pandemic. Last week, Julian Reichelt, editor-in-chief of the leading German newspaper ’Build’, had questioned how much China owed Germany due to the Coronavirus and demanded a compensation of $165 billion. The acrid demand Reichelt had made, has now become a topic of discussion.

While speaking about the German demand, US President Donald Trump said that the United States would be recovering a much higher amount from China as reparation. ‘The United States has still not decided the quantum of compensation, but this figure will be very high,’ President Trump has indicated. Furthermore, President Trump stated that this compensation would not be limited only to the United States, the entire world has suffered losses because of this pandemic and the United States would fight to get reparations for the whole world. President Trump went on to say that he had various avenues available to prove that China was responsible for the Coronavirus outbreak.

Peter Navarro, White House Trade Advisor, has blamed China, accusing China of helping the spread of the pandemic by supplying substandard kits to other countries. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has criticised the US President’s warning regarding the compensation. Hua Chunying, the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, said that the United States should focus on saving the lives of its citizens, rather than playing political games.
