US will acquire capability to counter Chinese warships via cyberattacks at port itself: US Navy Secretary

Annapolis: The US Navy has prepared a strategic guidance document to counter the aggressive Chinese navy. Accordingly, the Chinese warships can be left defunct at the port by cyberattacks, claimed US navy secretary Carlos Del Toro. Besides, the Chinese mouthpiece has noticed this development and issued a threat to the United States. It claimed that the United States will not succeed in cornering China.

A few days ago, former US NSA John Bolton had warned that China could attack Taiwan by winter 2022. Ministers and military analysts from Europe, Taiwan, alongside the United States, express the possibility of an attack on Taiwan. Moreover, China clarified its intentions by infiltrating about 150 fighter jets in Taiwan’s air defence zone. At the same time, Chinese aircraft carrier warships had transited along with its fleet through Taiwan’s maritime region.

So, the United States has declared a strategic guidance plan in response to this Chinese aggression. Two days ago, US Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro imparted information while speaking at an event. At the time, Toro claimed that the US Navy would maintain its dominance at the international level and strengthen its strategic partnership with ally-nations in the times to come.

‘The desired goal, quite frankly, is not to fight China. Our ultimate responsibility is to deter them from what they’re trying to accomplish, including taking over Taiwan,’ said Toro. He also said that it is vital for the United States to modernise the existing warships rather than increasing the number of warships in the fleet. Moreover, by asserting the significance of investment in cyberspace, he said that the possibility of ensuring Chinese warships do not leave the port could be considered via cyberattacks.

Meanwhile, Chinese mouthpiece Global Times has acknowledged this warning by US Navy Secretary. Besides, the mouthpiece warned the US, ‘The US has always been a leader in the development of new weapons, but if the US wants to intervene in the Taiwan Straits, it will lose. Once a war breaks out with a powerful country, the US will face a full range of military strikes, including its overseas bases. The US Navy will at best send some bombers or fighter jets to make a pose, but they dare not open fire against the PLA.’
