US should withdraw military from Afghanistan early; former President Trump criticises President Biden

Washington: – US President Joe Biden has chosen 11th September for complete military withdrawal from Afghanistan. Former President Donald Trump lashed out at the decision. Trump criticised that this has delayed US military withdrawal has caused a loss of billions of dollars to the United States. At the same time, the United States had to involve in the Afghanistan war only because of the 9/11 terror attack. Therefore, it is improper to choose 11th September to end the war. Former President Trump said that this day should only be for remembrance of the terror attack victims.

Last week, US President Biden announced military withdrawal from Afghanistan. Biden has said that the military is being withdrawn as the United States has achieved its objectives of eliminating Osama Bin Laden and destroying the terrorist centres in Afghanistan. The withdrawal will commence on 1st May and will be completed on 11th September. There are 2,500 US soldiers in Afghanistan and Biden said that there would be no hurry in military withdrawal.

NATO member countries welcomed this Biden decision of military withdrawal. The United Kingdom, France and Germany announced that their militaries also would withdraw from Afghanistan with the US military. But some senior senators from the United States criticised the decision of military withdrawal from Afghanistan. Now, even former US President Donald Trump has joined the critics. Trump said that the Biden administration should not delay the military withdrawal till 11th September and try to complete it earlier.

‘Billions of dollars have been spent on the war in Afghanistan and military vehicles have also been deployed there. Trump reminded that the United States would incur additional expenses of a few billion dollars by keeping the military in Afghanistan for more time. Simultaneously, former President Trump said that 11th September is the day for remembrance of the great souls lost on that day and delaying the military withdrawal to such a day is not appropriate. 

Meanwhile, Taliban has warned that the decision of the Biden administration regarding the military withdrawal violates the Doha agreement. Taliban said that they demanded that the United States and NATO withdraw their militaries before 1st May and criticised that this only clarifies that the United States cannot be trusted. Taliban also warned that if the US and NATO soldiers are deployed in Afghanistan, the United States will be entirely responsible for the consequences.
