US violates international laws in the matter of Huawei Director Wanzhou Meng, accuses Meng’s attorney

Ottawa/Beijing: – Attorney of Huawei Executive Director Wanzhou Meng, accused that the pressure being exerted on Canada, by the United States in the matter involving Meng, is a violation of the international laws. Gib van Ert, attorney for Wanzhou Meng also accused that the US laws are not applicable in China. It has been revealed that while the matter involving Meng is being heard in the Canadian court, a Chinese diplomat passed derogatory remarks regarding the Canadian Prime Minister.

In December 2018, Wanzhou Meng, Executive Director of Huawei, a leading Chinese company from the communications sector, was arrested in Canada. It is said that Huawei top management is being targeted over the issue of sanctions imposed by the United States against Iran. This arrest also has the background of the US-China trade war. Moreover, it was claimed that the United States carried out this action to increase pressure on China.

Huawei, a Chinese company, is known to be the second largest in the communications sector. This company also is an important factor in the Chinese influence in the economic and industry sectors. Huawei founder, Ren Zangfei, is a former Chinese military official and a senior member of the Chinese communist party. China even had warned that Canada should release Meng or be prepared for the consequences.

After Canada ignored the Chinese warning, China initiated actions detaining former Canadian officials and entrepreneurs. Even after that Canada has continued its actions without paying any heed to Chinese threats. On Monday, Meng’s attorney started defence efforts in the Canadian court. At this time, the attorney made a statement that the United States’ pressure on Canada is completely illegal and the action is wrong and in violation of international laws. At the same time, it was also claimed that the United States could not apply its laws to incidents that happened in China.   

While the hearing is being held in Canada, it has been revealed that a Chinese diplomat from Brazil, made a derogatory statement against Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Chinese Counsel General in Brazil, Li Yang, referred to Trudeau as a child and remarked that he has made Canada a dog of the United States. It has been revealed that Yang made this comment on this Twitter account.
