The Syrian Assad regime increased airstrikes and military actions in Idlib. The Syrian military claimed that this action is against the terrorist threatening the security of Syria. But the Turkish military has accused the Syrian military of carrying out attacks on civilian settlements, hospitals and the posts of the Turkish military, in the region. Four days ago, the Syrian military launched a fierce attack on a security post, in the Zavia region of Idlib. Three Turkish soldiers were injured in the attack.

The Turkish military has strongly retaliated against the attack of the Syrian military. Following this skirmish between the Syrian and Turkish militaries, Russian Defence Minister, Sergei Shoigu held a telephonic discussion with the Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar. Turkey demanded that a ceasefire should be imposed in Idlib, once again.

syria, turkey, syrian foreign ministerRussia accepted the demand made by Turkey and imposed a ceasefire in the Idlib region. But within a few hours, the Syrian military violated the ceasefire, by carrying out attacks in Idlib. Information is being received that the Syrian military carried out attacks on civilian settlements and Turkish security posts along with the terrorist locations.

In the last 24 hours, the locals have escaped to the refugee camps, following bomb attacks on Idlib. The action of the Syrian military has come under severe criticism and an appeal to avoid the civilian settlements and hospitals in Idlib. Turkey has complained to Russia regarding this and has asked Russia to intervene, to stop the Syrian activities. But the Syrian Assad government has strongly justified its action. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem claimed that the Syrian military was attacking only those organisations that have been declared as terrorists, by the international community. At the same time, Muallem clarified that Syria did not intend to start a war with Turkey.

The Syrian Defence Minister has raised the questions ‘When the Syrian military is attacking terrorist organisations from its own country. At this time, what is the Turkish military doing in Syria? Why did Turkey invade into our country and deploy military here?’

Foreign Minister Muallem accused ‘Turkey has deployed its military for protection of the terrorist organisations’ Nusra Front’ and ‘East Turkestan Islamic Movement’, against whom the Syrian military has initiated action.

The organisation ‘East Turkestan Islamic Movement’ is fighting for the freedom of the Xinjiang in China, and China has declared this organisation as a terrorist organisation. Therefore, China has supported the Syrian military action in Idlib.

Meanwhile, the United Nations, only a few days back, had warned that a fresh conflict would be sparked in Syria over Idlib and hundreds and thousands of citizens will be rendered homeless.
