While the Taliban is announcing a ceasefire, Afghan President read out a list of Taliban violence incidences. The United States and Taliban signed a peace deal on 29th February. Within a few hours of the agreement, the Taliban initiated dreadful bloodshed in Afghanistan. President Ghani said that 3,560 soldiers were killed and 6,781 were injured in the Taliban attacks since the peace deal. The President informed that 775 Afghan citizens were killed and 1,609 were wounded in the Taliban violence. President Ghani also informed that 689 people have been abducted by the Taliban in Afghanistan. At the same time, the Afghan President also gave indications of peace talks with the Taliban.

The Taliban ceasefire is starting on Friday. Taliban will not perpetrate any violence for these three days. But the Taliban spokesman warned that if there is an attack from the enemy, Taliban will certainly retaliate. The Afghan government has accepted the Taliban proposal, and President Ghani expressed a likelihood of peace talks starting between the government and Taliban by next week. The United States and NATO have welcomed the ceasefire and have appealed to the Taliban to engage in peace talks with the government.

The population of Afghanistan wants the ceasefire, announced by the Taliban, to continue forever. But in the past, the Taliban had perpetrated violence even during ceasefires. Therefore, there is a doubt in the minds of the Afghan people as to how long will the ceasefire last. Meanwhile, the Pakistan military is carrying out mortar attacks with the help of the Taliban on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The Pakistan attacks on the border have increased since the last few days. Pashtun groups have started demonstrations against this in various parts of Afghanistan.
