Deployment of NATO soldiers in Kabul will have dire consequences, Taliban warns US and NATO

Doha/Kabul: – Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen threatened, ‘The United States and the NATO member countries should withdraw their soldiers completely from Afghanistan, as per the agreement signed in Qatar. If even a single NATO soldier is seen in Kabul, after 11th September, there will be dire consequences.’ Even after the US military withdrawal, the United States has announced that 1,000 US soldiers will remain deployed in Kabul. Whereas Turkey and the United Kingdom also announced the deployment of their special units in Afghanistan. The Taliban threat comes against this background.

The United States has handed over keys to the most extensive military base at Bagram to the Afghan military. 50% of the US soldiers and weapons have returned to the homeland, and President Biden has announced that the rest will be brought home before the end of August. John Kirby, spokesman of Pentagon, the US military headquarters, informed that the United States had made preparations to carry out airstrikes from Qatar.

At the same time, the United States announced that nearly 1,000 soldiers would be retained in Afghanistan for the security of the embassies and the international airport. Along with the United States, even Turkey and the United Kingdom have said that their soldiers will be there in Afghanistan even after September. Taliban has already issued a warning over this Turkish announcement. But following the US and UK announcement, the Taliban has issued a new threat to all NATO members. Shaheen threatened, ‘All the NATO soldiers should leave Afghanistan in the period stipulated in the agreement signed in Qatar. Taking over Kabul is not a part of Taliban policy. But if NATO soldiers or military contractors are seen in Kabul after this period, the Taliban will have to make changes to its policies and consider other options. These foreign soldiers will be treated as infiltrators.’

Shaheen, the spokesman of the Taliban diplomatic office in Qatar, said during an interview with a British news channel, ‘Taliban has no enmity with the embassies of the western countries, diplomats, volunteer organisations and their volunteers. There is no threat to these entities from Taliban.’ Shaheen said that the United States handing over the control of the Bagram military base is a historical development.

Meanwhile, last week, after the United States handed over the control of the Bagram military base, the Taliban attempted to take control over the base. Nearly 20 Taliban terrorists attacked the security post at the base. But the Afghan military informed that the attack was busted. However, reports are being received that more than 1,000 Afghan soldiers panicked because of the Taliban attacks and escaped into Tajikistan.
