8 killed in Taliban mortar attacks in Afghanistan’s Ghazni

Kabul: On Sunday, eight people were killed, when the Taliban targeted the civilian settlements at Nav Abad, in the city of Ghazni, in Afghanistan with mortars. Within a few hours of the attack, there was a blast in Kandahar, injuring more than 30 people. The number of Taliban attacks have increased by 50%, in the last three months.

Two mortars landed in the civilian area, killing eight people. Whereas, more than seven people were seriously injured. Following the attack, the civilians gathered in large numbers in this area. Thereafter, more than 30 people were injured in the blast carried out by Taliban in Kandahar.

The Taliban terrorists are launching attacks in Kandahar and surrounding districts. The Afghan security forces have launched a strong action to stop these Taliban terrorists. Afghan Army Chief, General Yaseen Zia, is leading the campaign against the terrorists.

The conflict has reduced in the Helmand district. But conflict is still raging between Taliban and Afghan security forces, in Kandahar. Many houses have been destroyed in this conflict. Thousands of civilians have been displaced. General Scott Miller, Commander of the US and NATO forces, in Afghanistan, expressed a fear that if the violence continues in the same manner, the Afghanistan peace talks will come under threat.
