Taiwan sends aid for India’s fight against Coronavirus, provocation from China

New Delhi: Taiwan has sent 150 Oxygen concentrators and 500 Oxygen cylinders to India. Taiwanese foreign ministry said that this is a goodwill gift, to India, from Taiwan. This aid sent by Taiwan, having no official diplomatic relations with India, becomes significant. Whereas, China, who, on the face of it, is expressing concerns over the outbreak of Corona in India, has posted an inciting message on social media through its Central Political and Legal Affairs of the Chinese communist party. The post was withdrawn after some time, and there was even an apology received regarding the post. But this exposed the hate-India attitude of the Chinese government. Countries worldwide are providing aid to India, remembering the supply of medicines like hydroxychloroquine and other medical provisions during the first wave of Coronavirus.

The US President also mentioned the cooperation extended by India and announced that the United States would stand behind India. Russia, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Belgium are providing the necessary assistance to India. Even the Gulf countries have provided aid to India. Taiwan, too has sent 150 Oxygen concentrators and 500 Oxygen cylinders to India. The Taiwanese foreign ministry announced that the aircraft carrying the materials has already left Taiwan.Taiwan sends aid for India’s fight against Coronavirus, provocation from China

As per the Chinese One China policy, Taiwan is not considered an independent country. It is considered to be a part of Chinese rule. This One China policy had been accepted even by India, like the other countries of the world. Therefore, India has not established independent diplomatic relations with Taiwan. But after China started posing repeated challenges to the Indian interests, India has initiated steps to increase diplomatic ties with Taiwan. But Taiwan has consistently indicated that it has high expectations from democratic India.

While Taiwan is helping India, the Chinese attitude towards India was visible once again to the world. Photographs of a rocket launched into the sky, and a funeral pyre in India was posted side by side on social media. This post came from the official handle of the Central Political and Legal Affairs of the Chinese communist party.

Criticism was received even from the Chinese population over this insensitive and disgraceful action. After the reactions became louder, the post was withdrawn. The concerned Chinese official has submitted his apology. Even in the past, Chinese official media has tried to present a distorted picture of India. While India is fighting the Coronavirus, even the western media is presenting a distorted Indian image.

But responsible US analysts have reprimanded the US media, reminding it that more lives have been lost because of the Coronavirus in the United States than in India. These analysts also pointed to the much larger population and high population density in India. As per these analysts, despite these odds, the Indian agencies are fighting the Coronavirus crisis with all their strength, which is a commendable endeavour, and the world should take note of this.
