Myanmarese envoy to UN appeals to the world body to reestablish democracy & act against military rule in Myanmar

United Nations: – Kyaw Moe Tun, the Myanmar Ambassador to the United Nations, appealed ‘The international community may take any action to protect the Myanmar population and the democracy. The international community must take stern action to crush this tyrant regime’s rebellion, stop the atrocities against innocent people and re-establish democracy in Myanmar.’ While the appeal made by Kyaw Moe Tun is being welcomed from around the globe, the Myanmar military has increased the intensity of its action against the protestors.

On the 1st of February, the Myanmar military overthrew Aung San Syu Ki’s elected government to assume power. Syu Ki has been place on house arrest and other leaders in Myanmar have been arrested by the military. The people of Myanmar are protesting for the last four weeks against the military’s action disregarding the election mandate. The protestors are demanding the release of Syu Ki and other leaders. The Myanmar military is taking stern actions against the protestors and has gone to the extent of deploying tanks on the roads.  

Repercussions of these actions of the Myanmar military are being felt all around the globe. The focus of the entire world was that in this scenario, will Kyaw Moe Tun, the Myanmar Ambassador to the United Nations, present the Myanmar military’s stand in the UN Security Council. But everyone was in for a pleasant surprise when Kyaw Moe Tun presented the stand of the democratic government in the UN Security Council. Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun openly criticised the military rebellion and appealed to the international community that establishing democracy by the people for the people in Myanmar. Kyaw Moe Tun demanded that every country supporting democracy oppose the military rebellion in Myanmar and not recognise the country’s military regime. The stand taken by the Myanmar Ambassador, against the military regime received massive applause in the UN Security Council.  

Meanwhile, the Myanmar military has intensified its action against the protestors following the appeal made by Kyaw Moe Tun in the UN Security Council. The Myanmar military has arrested more than 400 lawmakers and 500 protestors to date. These also include Australia official Sean Turner, working as an economic advisor to the Syu Ki government.
