Terrorists launched an attack while the CRPF soldiers and the Jammu-Kashmir police, were on a joint patrolling duty, in the Kiri area of Baramulla. Three soldiers were martyred and some others were injured in the attack. The injured soldiers have been moved to the hospital for treatment. All three terrorists escaped following the attack. After that, the security forces launched a massive combing operation.

The encounter started between the soldiers and terrorists in the afternoon. Vijay Kumar, the Inspector General of Jammu-Kashmir police, said that Lashkar commander Sajjad was killed in the encounter. Kumar was asked if the terrorists have adopted this new tactic of launching a sudden attack, on the security forces and escape after that. It has been observed that the terrorists attack the security forces and escape after the attack even in the past. This question was asked with this background. Kumar asserted that this was a matter for concern and soon a solution will be worked out for this problem.

This is the second terrorist attack in Jammu-Kashmir, in three days. Two policemen were martyred and one was injured, in the terrorist attack in the Navgam area in Srinagar. Over the last few months, the security forces have intensified their action against the terrorists. 150 terrorists have been eliminated since the beginning of this year. It has also been announced that terrorism has been eradicated from some areas of Jammu-Kashmir. The terrorists are fighting for their very existence, given the actions of the security forces, and therefore trying to make their presence felt with such attacks on the security forces.

Meanwhile, sources informed that a major mishap was averted as the security forces found and disabled the IED, planted by the terrorists in Pulwama, to target soldiers from the security forces.
