Shifting US embassy to Jerusalem may trigger war,warns Muqtada-Al-Sadr

Baghdad : If the new US President Donald Trump, shifts the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, then this will be considered as a declaration of war, is the threat given by the leader of Iraq’s Shite sect, Muqtada al-Sadr. Likewise, Al-Sadr announced the formation of an independent armed organization to liberate Jerusalem.

A few weeks ago, President Trump had announced the relocation of US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. In the news released by White House on Sunday, it was clearly stated that the first stage discussions for shifting the US embassy to Jerusalem are on. This move initiated by Trump had caused a sense of surprise. For the past two decades and a half, US had postponed the decision of shifting the embassy to Jerusalem for reasons of security.

In this context, ‘Muqtada-al–Sadr‘ has reacted very strongly to this oncoming US decision of shifting the embassy. Al-Sadr has invited Arab League and organizations from Arab-Islamic countries at International level to take lead and block the US efforts.

Sometime back, Muqtada al Sadr’s organization in Iraq had revolted against the US army. This organization which has the backing of Iran was relegated to the list of terrorist organization by US. Muqtada al-Sadr was not very much in the news for some time. However his organization became active when ‘IS‘ became a threat to Iraq. As the news of the new US President scrapping the nuclear deal with Iran was gaining momentum, this extremist organization backed by Iran, sending warning signals to US over shifting embassy to Jerusalem, does not seem a matter of coincidence but a sure possiblility of Iran acting behind the scenes.
