Last week, the United Kingdom and the European Union signed the final Brexit agreement. Thereafter, the agreement was approved even in the European Union meeting. The British parliament approved the agreement with 521 votes in favour and 73 were against it. Brexit was officially implemented on Thursday night. There are many restrictions in place in the United Kingdom and Europe, given the Coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, as per analysts, it will take some time to see the effects of Brexit.

But the industrial sector has started showing resentment to an extent. New regulations will apply to the people trading between the United Kingdom and Europe; they will have to complete new paperwork, after the Christmas and new year celebrations. It is claimed that the trading community is a little restless as there is no authentic information available regarding this. Some of the companies involved in transport between the United Kingdom and Europe have taken the decision to suspend their operations for a certain period and have indicated to restart operations once clear guidelines are received.

The companies in the United Kingdom’s service sector also have complained that the provisions of the Brexit Deal have not reached them. New regulations apply to those wishing to migrate from Europe to the United Kingdom and there is confusion even about these regulations. The cost of many products may rise in the United Kingdom and Europe and it is believed that this will directly hit the common consumer. It is also claimed that confusion will prevail even on the border check posts between the United Kingdom and France for the next few days.

Meanwhile, repercussions of Brexit are already being felt in the British political circles. While the United Kingdom is preparing to exit from the European Union, Scotland is preparing to enter the European Union again. Scotland First Minister Nicola Sturgeon indicated that the future of Scotland was linked to the European Union.

Nicola Sturgeon accused ‘Now Scotland has the right to decide about making its future as an independent country. Independent Scotland will once again become a part of the European Union and derive benefits. Scotland has been forcibly removed from the European market and customs union.’ She also blamed that Scotland will suffer major economic losses due to the schemes closed with the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union.
