Russia attempted to interfere in the 2020 US elections, US intelligence agency gives a clean chit to China

Washington: – The Biden administration in the United States has launched one more attack on former President Donald Trump. The US intelligence agency accused that Russia interfered in the US Presidential elections held in 2020 to help Donald Trump. The agency made a surprising claim that it did not have any evidence to prove the accusation. At the same time, the intelligence department gave a clean chit to China, saying that there was no Chinese interference in the Presidential elections. This is strengthening the accusation that the Biden administration will be adopting a pro-China and anti-Russia foreign policy. The Russian media has severely criticised the Biden administration over these accusations.

US Office of the Directorate of Intelligence published a 15-page report on Tuesday. The report says that the elections held in 2020 had a major threat from foreign agents. The US intelligence agency has accused in the report that Russia, Iran, Cuba and Venezuela tried to influence last year’s elections. The report even holds Russian President Vladimir Putin guilty.

The Russian President issued orders to influence the US elections to ensure a victory for Donald Trump. But the US intelligence agency has said that there is no evidence of Russia influencing the elections, manipulating polling or making changes to the voter lists. Simultaneously, the report claims that Iran tried to create an anti-Trump sentiment in the electorate.

The Democrat party had made similar accusations even after the 2016 US Presidential elections. Accusations that Russian President Vladimir Putin interfered in the elections to ensure victory for Trump had been made. But neither the US intelligence nor the Democrat party could submit any proof in support of the accusations.

US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, will be holding talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in the next few hours. The discussions will be regarding normalising trade relations between the United States and China. Analysts are pointing out that the report of the US intelligence agency has been published against this background.

Meanwhile, former President Trump had criticised during his election campaign last year that China, which has been feeling the heat of the trade war, will give preference to Joe Biden for President.
