It is wrong to threaten another country in this manner to guard your own interests,’ said Foreign Minister Lavrov.

Two days ago, at the Security conference in Munich, Iranian Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif hadcalled for the destruction of Israel. Iranian Supreme Spiritual Leader Ayatollah Khomeini had also issued similar threats to Israel in the past. Last week, General Qassem Soleimani, Chief of the ‘Kurds Army’ unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, operational in Syria and Iraq, also had warned of wiping out Israel from the world map.

Israel had raised the issue of the increasing Iranian activities in Syria, with Russia, a few days ago. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had requested Russia to stop Iranian activities. But, Russia had supported the Iranian deployment in Syria and rejected Israel’s request.

Russia had advised Israel not to take an extreme position about Syria that will deteriorate the situation further. The analysts had claimed this appeal to be a warning from Russia to Israel on Syria. But, Russia seems to have lashed out at Iran after Iran called for destruction of Israel. While slamming Iran, the Russian Foreign Minister criticised Israel and the United States policies about Iran. The policies of Israel and the United States are anti-Iran, said Foreign Minister Lavrov.
