Naypyidaw: – The Myanmar military has given indications of intensifying the oppressive actions to crush the increasing opposition to the Junta regime. The groups and means leading the opposition to the Junta Regime are being targeted, disregarding even the international pressures. A few days ago, the Myanmar military stopped food and water supplies in Mindat city, and hence, more than 10,000 citizens may be forced to migrate. At the same time, moves have been initiated to stop the internet services to prevent the spread of reports regarding the atrocities by the Myanmar military and the response received by the agitation.

The Myanmar military seized power in February through a coup. The population, opposed to this army’s decision, took to the streets to start a pro-democracy agitation. Despite the cruel actions and inhuman brutality of the military, the Myanmar civilian population did not retreat. The edge of the turmoil is the same for the last three months, and instead, the extent is seen to be increasing. Therefore, the Junta regime, upset with this increasing response, seems to have decided to use oppression to tighten its grip on the country.

The Chin state in Myanmar leads in opposing the Junta regime. The population in this province has started an open conflict with the Myanmar military, and the military contingents are being repeatedly targeted. The military carried out large scale airstrikes in the region to dismantle the opposition. But the resistance of the population continues, and therefore the military has decided to cut off the food and water supply to the province. A few days ago, the army completely stopped the transportation of food and water to the Mindat city in the Chin State. Therefore, thousands of citizens from the city have been forced to leave their houses and take shelter in the jungles.

After realising that the internet plays a vital role in the Myanmar agitation, the Junta regime has initiated moves to shut it down. An international group claimed that the objective of the Junta regime is to block the websites connecting to the outside world and social media sites and keep the internet confined only within the country. Foreign companies have bitterly opposed this decision of the Junta regime and have warned that these efforts will jolt the economy further.

Meanwhile, the military has started moves to sack people opposing the Junta regime. Over the last few days, Myanmar diplomats in foreign countries have made aggressive statements against the army and have supported the agitation. These included Ambassadors as well as senior diplomats. The Junta regime had sacked more than 100 such diplomats. The military is taking violent actions to crush the agitation started three months ago, and 807 people have been killed in these actions. At the same time, the local groups informed that the number of people arrested has crossed 4,200.
