Even the people of South Korea responded well to the government’s call. The pandemic had been contained in the country, and it was being claimed that the South Korean model was the most successful.

On Monday, the number of cases was a minuscule 25. While reports were being received that South Korea has won over the pandemic, the second wave of Coronavirus has been reported from there. 116 patients, who had been declared fit after treatment, have been reported to have contracted the virus again. Therefore, it is being observed that there is a possibility of reinfection, after being cured of the virus. However, some people have raised doubts over medical testing. Some people are of the opinion that in view of the second wave of the virus, it will be advisable to postpone the polling for the parliamentary elections, scheduled for Wednesday. But the South Korean government has refused to oblige. The South Korean government clarified that the elections would be held as planned, following the rules of social distancing.

Meanwhile, polling will be held at 3,500 polling centres in South Korea. As a precautionary measure, all these polling centres have been disinfected. The voters will be allowed to enter the polling centres only after a medical screening. Masks, gloves and sanitisers have been made mandatory for everyone. A special arrangement has been made for the healthcare staff. People under quarantine will be able to vote through email.
