Railway deploys 960 isolation coaches in 5 states

New Delhi: – In view of the increasing number of Coronavirus cases in the country, Indian Railway deployed 960 Coronavirus isolation coaches in the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. Taking into account the shortage of hospitals in Delhi, a hospital with 54 coaches in the repairs and maintenance yard, at Shakurbasti railway station and isolations centre with ten coaches, on the Shakurbasti railway station have been started. Whereas, a decision to start an isolation centre at the Anand Vihar station has also been taken.

Railway, isolation coaches

Indian Railway has deployed 503 isolation coaches at nine different stations in Delhi. These centres will have 8,000 isolation beds. These coaches will be deployed at the Anand Vihar station. Seven platforms at the Anand Vihar station have been reserved for this purpose. All the trains arriving and departing from Anand Vihar station will operate from the New Delhi station. The Isolation coaches even have provision for Oxygen cylinders.

Just like capital Delhi, isolation centres have been set up in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. Seventy isolation coaches have been allotted to Uttar Pradesh. These coaches will be located in the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Varanasi, Bhadoi, Faizabad, Saharanpur, Mirzapur and Jhansi stations. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been allotted 20 and 40 isolation coaches respectively. An isolation centre of 150 coaches has been started by the Jodhpur division, in the Rajasthan sector of the North-Western Railway.

Coronavirus cases with mild symptoms will be kept in the isolation coach centres. Separate coaches will be prepared for the suspected Coronavirus cases.
