The demand to end the regime of Ayatollah Khamenei having monopolistic control over political and military agencies is gaining ground in Iran. The organisation ‘National Council of Resistance of Iran’ (NCRI), who are staunch opponents of the Khamenei regime, have published this information on their website.

Protests continue against the Iranian regime, Iranian groups protest even in CanadaNCRI has said that there have been protests across ten cities of Iran. The organisation has posted photographs and videos of the protests held in Tehran, Ahwaz, Tabriz, Behbahan, Iranshahr, Shahroud, Shahr-e-Kodr, Karaj and Lorestan cities on its website, in support of its claim. The video shows the protestors shouting slogans like ‘Tyrant regime should be finished’, ‘Khamenei should die, Rajavi Zindabad’ and ‘Khamenei is a murderer’.

Maryam Rajavi is the President of NCRI. Rajavi has taken asylum in the French capital of Paris, and thousands of Iranians gather every year under her leadership. Rajavi has demanded overthrowing of the Khamenei government in Iran and establishment of a democratic government. This demand is receiving increasing support from the Iranians, in foreign countries. But with these incidents, it is now evident that the people in Iran also are coming out openly in support of Rajavi.

Similar protests are being held in other countries too. The Iranian-Canadian people gave strong slogans against the Iranian-Khamenei regime in the city of Montreal. The protestors denounced the attack on the Ukrainian passenger liner by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). Protestors demanded the rights with IRGC be withdrawn and that this organisation be scrapped. They further complained that the image of the country was getting maligned due to the activities of IRGC.

Meanwhile, a severe backlash of the shooting down of the Ukrainian passenger airliner, by the IRGC, under orders from Iranian supremo Ayatollah Khamenei was felt even in Iran, in the last month. The Iranian people protested continuously for a whole week against the Khamenei regime. The major jolt to the Khamenei regime was large scale participation of the youth in the protests. Iran had faced criticism from the international level as it used the military to disperse these protestors.
