Bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Joe Biden will be held on September 24. Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that the two leaders would exchange ideas to overcome the challenge of terrorism. Pakistan is panicking due to this. This is because, following the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan, major countries worldwide are now expressing concerns over the rising terror threats. Former US military officials, statesmen and analysts have warned that Afghanistan could become a hotbed of terrorism after the takeover by the Taliban. India‘s foreign secretary has increased Pakistan heart rate by declaring that terrorism will be the central issue during the talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Biden.

Indicating that the US could use Indian airspace to carry out its counterterrorism missions in Afghanistan, US Secretary of State Blinken had announced that he was already in talks with India in this regard. This has jolted to Pakistan, which used its influence to bring the Taliban to power in Afghanistan. Pakistani analysts are worried that along with the terrorists in Afghanistan, the United States and India will also target terrorists in Pakistan. Some Pakistani journalists have expressed fears that the United States will use India to teach a lesson to Pakistan and that the United States will launch attacks on Pakistan through India.

It is also being discussed in the Pakistani media that India and the United States can decide to block Pakistan economically, blaming Pakistan for the situation in Afghanistan. Even a country like China, restless with the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to the United States, seems to have increased pressure on Pakistan. China has taken serious note of the bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Biden and the subsequent QUAD meeting. Once ridiculed that the QUAD cooperation would never materialise, China now seems panicking because of the QUAD cooperation.

China has criticised that QUAD is the Asian NATO organisation born out of the Cold War mentality. Earlier, it was reported that China was trying to persuade India not to participate in QUAD, exerting pressure from Russia.
