Corona threat increases further, number of Corona deaths around the world crosses 212,000  

Washington/Moscow: The total number of Coronavirus deaths in the world has reached 212,665, and the pandemic has claimed 56,144 lives in the United States alone. The pandemic is delivering a major blow to the global economy, and the global industry is suffering huge losses. Therefore, some of the countries have started relaxing the lockdown restrictions. Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, has withdrawn the lockdown, claiming that the battle against Coronavirus has been won in the country.

In the last 24 hours, Coronavirus has claimed 6,500 lives around the world. This includes 1,303 deaths reported from the United States. The pandemic has claimed 56,144 lives in the United States, including 27 soldiers from the security forces. The total number of cases in the US has crossed a million. Nearly 30% of the cases worldwide are from the United States.  

Despite this situation, some of the states in the US have started relaxing the lockdown conditions. These states have claimed that the number of Coronavirus cases has decreased in the state. But these US states seem to be relaxing the lockdown, in view of the immense losses suffered due to the lockdown. But the State of New York, the economic engine of the United States and the centre of Coronavirus in the United States, since the last one month, has flatly refused to relax any conditions of the lockdown. The pandemic has claimed 17,300 lives in New York, and more than 300,000 cases have been reported from there.  

More than 500 Coronavirus deaths were reported in the United Kingdom during the last 24 hours. As per the information given by the British health department and John Hopkins University, 633 patients have died in the United Kingdom over the previous 24 hours. This takes the total number of Coronavirus deaths in the United Kingdom to 21,749, and there are a total number of 157,19 cases in the country. The global oil sector has taken a major hit due to the pandemic, and British Petroleum has suffered a staggering loss of USD 4.4 billion in the last quarter.  

The pandemic has claimed nearly 27,000 deaths in Italy and about 24,000 lives in Spain. In the last 24 hours, 333 and 301 deaths were reported in Italy and Spain respectively. Although the number of fatalities has shown a decline in France, the incidence of new cases has shown an increase. Against this background, French Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, announced an extension of the lockdown till 11th May.   

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the situation in the country, having more than 93,000 Coronavirus cases, is becoming more and more severe with each passing day. While talking to the press, President Putin warned that the country would be passing through a challenging phase. President Putin instructed the Russian citizens to strictly follow the restrictions of the lockdown for the next two weeks.
