North Korea will talk to South Korea if it drops hostility and duplicity

Pyongyang/ Seoul – North Korea is willing to talk to South Korea if it abandons its hostile policy, various prejudices and double standards, said Kim Yo-jong, the sister of Kim Jong-un. During his speech in the United Nations, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said that both the Korean nations should officially declare to end the war. Thus, in response to his comment, Kim Yo-jong said just the declaration is not enough; South Korea must also change its policies and views.

North Korea, South Korea, Kim Yo-jongIn March, North Korea had tested shorter-range cruise missiles and Ballistic missiles. Following that, a US think tank had also published a report about the rising nuclear movements of North Korea. Last month, North Korea had also warned to increase its preemptive strike capacity. Then in the previous two weeks, North Korea tested new missiles and tried to increase pressure on the United States and South Korea. North Korea had issued threats against the backdrop of these tests.

Moreover, on the other hand, the United States and South Korea had continued their efforts to hold peace talks with North Korea. A few days ago, the United States ambassador visited Japan and South Korea. At this time, the United States, Japan, South Korea and China had begun discussions to hold peace talks for the Korean Peninsula. However, North Korea did not respond to that either. Against this background, the proposal by the South Korean President to end the war between the two nations draws attention.

Initially, North Korea had responded negatively to the proposal. Senior North Korean leaders warned that such a proposal is untimely. Besides, it makes no sense due to the hostile policy of the United States. However, within a few hours, Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un expressed her willingness to hold talks. But, she put a condition on South Korea that it must abandon its hostile policy. The declaration to formally end the war can give rise to new conflicts, Kim Yo-jong warned.

Two years ago, the meeting between former US President Donald Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un was unsuccessful. Ever since, the discussion between the two nations has come to a standstill. Earlier, the United States had proposed to hold talks, but North Korea refused to accept its conditions.
