Nepalese government department claims land acquired by China in seven districts

Kathmandu: It is being exposed that expansionist China, is slowly encroaching on more and more of Nepalese territory. The Nepalese agriculture department claimed in its report that China has illegally encroached on the land, in many places, in seven districts of Nepal. A few days ago, a journalist who exposed that China had taken over villages in Nepal and had encroached in 11 locations died suspiciously.

China, who is claiming rights on Indian territories, has initiated planned steps to take over Nepalese territory. Most importantly, it is being claimed that China can do this only because of the support of the Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. It is also being said that although the official report claims that there is an encroachment in seven districts, the real situation could be more horrible. Accusations that the Nepalese communist party is pushing forward the agenda of the Chinese communist party also are rife. The Oli government is keeping mum in the matter with the fear of upsetting China.

The Survey and Mapping Department of Nepal has said that there is Chinese encroachment in the Dolakha, Gorkha, Darchula, Sindhupalchowk, Sankhuvasabha and Rasuva districts. Most of the areas encroached by China are catchment areas of rivers. These include rivers like Humla, Karnali, Sanjen, Lemed in Rasuva, Brujuj, Khairan from Sindhuvallabh, Jamboo from Sindhupalchowk, Bhotkausi, Sanjugm, Kamakjola and Arun. As per received information, China is even trying to change the course of rivers. China has intruded up to 1,500 metres from the international border, on the Nepal side, in Dolakha. At the pillar 57 Dolahka area on the Kolang peak, China has intruded up to the Korlang area. This Pillar has become a point of dispute between Nepal and China.

The survey and mapping department has also noted, in the report, that China has acquired Nepalese villages in Gorkha and Darchula districts. Just like Dolakha, China has moved the border pillar nos. 35, 37 and 38 and Pillar no 62 in the Napa Bhajyang in Solukhumbu. China has also acquired certain part of Jiujau village in Darchula. China has now acquired many houses once in Nepal.

It has been already exposed that certain parts adjoining Tibet, also have been encroached by China. Chinese developmental works have reached the Nepal border. China is intruding into the Nepalese territory under the disguise of these developmental works. At the same time, the Nepalese government is being pressurised not to sign the protocol for resolving the border dispute and managing the border. It is believed that China wants to fulfil its wishes by maintaining the status quo.

Two Nepalese agencies have accused Chinese intrusion, even in the past. Thereafter, now, the report published by the Agricultural ministry endorses the acts of Chinese encroachment. Nepal is trying to avoid border-related talks with China since 2005. Nepal does not want to displease China. Along with this, Nepal postponed the border talks with China, even in 2012. After the expose that China has acquired Nepalese land on the Tibet border, the anti-Oli voices have intensified, not only from the opposition parties but also from within the ruling party. Therefore, it is being said that the KP Oli Sharma government dug up a border dispute with India, only to divert the attention elsewhere.
