Afghan security forces kill 44 Taliban terrorists in Kunduz province

Kabul: – 44 Taliban terrorists were killed in action taken by the Afghan army in the Kunduz province of Afghanistan. The Afghan army also regained control over the territory taken over by Taliban in the Imam Sahib district. In the meantime, one person was killed in a bomb blast at Kabul in Afghanistan. The peace talks between the Afghan Government and the Taliban are scheduled to be held in the next week. These developments attain significance against this background.

An encounter between the Afghan military and Taliban is going on since the last four days in the Kunduz province. The Afghan army has informed that 44 Taliban terrorists were killed in the encounter. Whereas, the Afghan military has succeeded in regaining control over the territory taken over by the Taliban. Within a few hours of this announcement made by the Afghan army, five soldiers from the Afghan security forces were injured in a bomb blast in the Paktia province. No terrorist organisation has accepted the responsibility of the explosion. But it is suspected that the Taliban has a hand in the explosion.  

While there is a conflict going on in Afghanistan, peace talks will be held between the Afghan Government and the Taliban. For this, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has formed a council of 48 members. President Ghani said that the council would be led by Special Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah. Such peace talks are being held to stop the violence in Afghanistan since the last two decades. The media pointed out that the spate of attacks has still not stopped in Afghanistan.  

On 29th February, the United States signed a peace deal with the Taliban. The Taliban resumed its spate of attacks within a few hours of the agreement. Therefore, question marks are being raised over peace prevailing between the Afghan Government and Taliban.  

Meanwhile, Pakistan is frantic for peace talks between the Afghan Government and Taliban. Pakistan is desirous of having a Taliban government in Afghanistan. The international analyst claim that Pakistan feels that the Indian influence in Afghanistan will reduce with the Taliban government in power in Afghanistan.
