Jordan and Hamas will unite against Israel: Turkish mouthpiece

Ankara: – Indications are that the cooperation between the regime of King Abdullah the second and Hamas, from the Gaza Strip, is becoming stronger. The Turkish mouthpiece claimed that Jordan and Hamas would come together against Israel. This claim of the mouthpiece is against the background of the Jordanian stand last month, during the 11-day Israel-Hamas conflict.

Palestinian controlled West Bank and Jordan share a border. Moreover, there are nearly 2 million Palestinian refugees in Jordan. The Palestinians and their supporters from Jordan held demonstrations against Israel after conflict flared between Israel and Hamas. Hundreds of protestors dashed against the Israeli border with Jordan, attempting intrusion.

Jordanian King Abdullah the second had expressed concerns over the actions of the Israeli agencies against the Palestinians in the West Bank and the attacks on the terrorist organisation Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Before this, Jordan did not support the attacks launched by Hamas on Israel. But Jordanian analyst Ahmed Saeed Nofal claimed that the Jordanian viewpoint towards Hamas changed. This change happened after the Hamas supporters played a major role, in the Jerusalem and Sheikh Jarah conflict, in the last month.

A US newspaper had predicted that the coup attempt by Prince Hamzah against King Abdullah the second was on Israeli instigation. The newspaper claimed that this also is the reason for tension between Jordan and Israel. Such a development could drastically change the equations in the sector. If Hamas can get support from a strong country like Jordan and Iran, then Hamas will emerge much stronger and use this strength against Israel.
