At the same time, even Hezbollah is threatening to shower thousands of missiles and rockets on Israel. Against this background, Israel has pointed out the Hezbollah threat to the European countries, by arranging a visit of their Ambassadors, to the Lebanon border. This is pointing to aggressive Israeli policies in the coming times.

Israel military and European Leaderships Network, a London based think tank, arranged this special visit of European Ambassadors to the Lebanon border. The visit was arranged to underline the threat to Israel from Hezbollah’s increasing activities near the Lebanese border, where even the UN peacekeeping force is deployed. These included the Ambassadors of the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Greece, Poland and the European Union.

Brigadier General Oren Setter, the chief of the Israeli army’s strategic division, met the delegation of Ambassadors. Setter also clarified that Israel has no animosity towards the Lebanese population or the military. Israel completely supports the efforts to safeguard the sovereignty and stability of Lebanon. Brigadier General Setter pointed out that Israel is ready for Hezbollah, preparing to attack Israel from behind the Lebanese population.

At this time, the Ambassadors of European countries were also shown the area where landmines have been planted by Hezbollah and currently under Israeli control. At the same time, Brigadier General Shlomi Binder, of the Israeli army, showed the underground tunnels built by Hezbollah.

Brigadier General Binder reminded, ‘Hezbollah and Iran have close ties, and there is a threat to this sector because of them. Hezbollah is not a threat only to Israel but also to Lebanon.’ Belgian Ambassador to Israel, Jean-Luc Bodson, expressed amazement over the evidence presented by Israel. Bodson also acknowledged that Hezbollah is a major threat.

Israel, the United States and the United Kingdom have declared Hezbollah, the organisation affiliated with Iran, as a terrorist organisation. But France, an ally of Israel and the United States, has included only the military unit of Hezbollah in the list of terrorist organisations. But the European Union has adopted a moderate stand regarding Hezbollah. Israel seems to have arranged this visit of the European ambassadors against this background.
