Iranian drones add to the instability in the Middle East, US thinktank warns

Tehran: – Two days ago, Iran displayed drones along with the missiles during a military parade. Last week, a US thinktank warned that Iranian missiles and rockets were already causing instability in the Middle East. But now, these Iranian drones will add to it. The US thinktank issued this warning against the background of the drone attack on the US military base.

The military parade had been organised in the Iranian capital of Tehran, on the occasion of the ’Military Day’. Iran exhibited its missiles in the parade. But this year, for the first time, Iran also exhibited its drones in the parade. Various drones like Mojahir, Yasir, Kaman and Kiyan, which are copied from the US Ripper and Predator, surveillance and bomber drones, were on display. International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a US think tank, expressed concerns over the exhibition of these drones.

IISS warned that the Iranian ballistic missiles have also become a major contributing factor for the instability in the Middle East sector and the Iranian nuclear program. This is because these Iranian missiles may fall into the hands of the terrorist organisations like Hezbollah in Lebanon, Houthi in Yemen, Hama from Gaza Strip and other terrorist organisations in Syria. Similar concerns can be expressed regarding the Iranian drones.

Last week, the US airbase in Irbil came under a drone attack. It is claimed that these drones were of Iranian make. Saudi had accused that the drones used in the attacks carried out on Saudi fuel projects, military and air bases by the Houthi rebels were of Iranian make.

It is becoming evident that missile and drone manufacturing will trigger an arms race in the Middle East and the Iranian nuclear program. The concern expressed by IISS is pointing to this very possibility.
