Tehran: Senior Iranian official Ahmed Khatami made a dramatic announcement ‘Iran has all the necessary chemicals and technological information for making nuclear weapons. But Iran does not wish to make and use nuclear weapons. But to counter the threat from the United States and Israel, it is important that Iran is equipped with nuclear weapons.’
Khatami is a close associate of the Iranian supreme religious leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Two days ago, Khamenei had criticised US President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Advisor John Bolton. Commenting on that, Khatami said that Iran being nuclear is the need of the hour.
Just like Khatami, deputy chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, General Hussain Salami fired a salvo of criticism at the United States. Salami warned ‘The United States cannot order Iran to withdraw from Syria. Instead, the United States should withdraw from Syria.’ Iranian Deputy Defence Minister, Reza Talainik warned that if the United States did not withdraw from Syria, all the US military bases in Syria would be in range for the Iranian missiles.
