Intrusion of Chinese ships will increase unwanted enmity, warns Advisor to Philippines President

Manila: – Chief Presidential Legal Counsel of the Philippines President issued a stern warning that the tension between the two countries has already been heightened due to the intrusion of the Chinese ships in the Philippines marine region. If the intrusion continues, unwanted enmity will be created. Till now, the Philippines President was being criticised for adopting a liberal stand against Chinese activities. But on Monday, the Philippines President seems to have delivered an appropriate message to China through this clear warning.

Nearly a month ago, 220 Chinese ships intruded into the Julien Filip island region. The Philippines accused that these ships have anchored without taking permission from the authorities. Philippines government accused that the Chinese militia is leading these ships with military training. Filipino military chief had warned that China should withdraw these ships. Otherwise, the Philippines has the right to take action against those carrying out illegal constructions inside its marine limits.

Salvador Panelo, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel of President Rodrigo Duterte, issued a clear warning to China. Panelo claimed that the relations between the countries are strained because of the presence of the Chinese ships inside the Philippines marine limits. Panelo also warned that this would create unwanted enmity between the two countries. Panelo also lambasted that negotiations are possible on the intrusion by these Chinese ships, but compromise on the Philippines’ sovereignty is not possible. The Philippines has adopted a very aggressive stand regarding the intruding Chinese ships. But President Rodrigo Duterte seems to have made China aware of the situation with this warning.

A few hours ago, Philippines Defence Minister Delfin Lorenzana accused China. Defence Minister Lorenzana made a crushing accusation ‘China has a crooked plan of swallowing the marine region, keeping these ships deployed in this marine region. Even in the past, China had acquired the regions of Panatag, Scarboro Scholl, and Panganiban Reef (Mischief Reef) violating the Philippines sovereignty and international regulations.’

Philippines is playing an aggressive tune against China since the last few days. China upset with this, also criticised the Philippines. Chinese embassy in the Philippines claimed that the concerned ships had taken refuge in the region due to bad weather conditions. Besides, there were no Chinese militia on the ships. Infuriated Philippines Defence Minister reprimanded China. Defence Minister Lorenzana lashed out that the weather conditions in the region are near perfect and there is no reason for these ships to languish in this region.
