India-US form USIAI for cooperation in the Artificial Intelligence sector

New Delhi: – India and the United States have taken an important step for cooperation in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector. The Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) announced the US-India Artificial Intelligence Initiative (USIAI) establishment for this purpose. The Department of Science and Technology of India said that USIAI has been established for increasing bilateral cooperation in the AI sector.

It is being inferred on the international level that AI will be used in every field of life. Moreover, it will play an important role in areas from national security to routine day-to-day activities. All the world’s leading countries are making huge investments in the AI sector and promoting research in this sector. In this scenario, the cooperation between India and the United States, in this regard, becomes very important.

Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary with the Department of Science and Technology of India, underlined the importance of developing cooperation between them. Sharma said that this cooperation between India and the United States is vital for tackling the problems faced by both countries and to overcome the obstacles in the path of development. Ashutosh Sharma also informed that 25 technology hubs have been set up for development and research in AI in the country.

Jonathan Margolis, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Ocean and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, welcomed this cooperation between the United States and India. Margolis said that this cooperation between the two democratic countries is based on openness, transparency, understanding, and research promotion. India and the United States, the two largest democracies of the world, can make miracles happen, working together. Sethuraman ‘Panch’ Panchanathan, Director of the National Science Foundation, claimed that this is the right time for India and the United States to start cooperating in the AI sector.

This cooperation between India and the United States becomes essential to provide impetus to both countries’ economies and progress through employment. Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairman of Axilor Ventures, said that any research would be incomplete without India, accounting for 20% of the global population.

Executive Director of IUSSTF, Nandini Kannan, claimed that IUSSTF has made one more important contribution, establishing cooperation between India and the United States on the advanced technology front.
