53 Corona deaths reported from Maharashtra in 24 hours, total number of cases cross 22,000

Mumbai: 53 deaths were reported due to Coronavirus on Sunday in the state of Maharashtra. The total number of cases increased by 1,278, thus crossing the 22,000 mark. 875 new cases were reported from Mumbai. This is the highest number of new cases reported from Mumbai as well as Maharashtra. The situation in Maharashtra is grave, and the number of cases has crossed 22,000. The pandemic claimed 53 lives in a single day. The total number of deaths in Maharashtra has reached 832, and the number of deaths reported from Mumbai so far is 508.

19 deaths were reported from Mumbai on Sunday. Malegaon, from Nashik district, has come forward as the biggest hotspot of Coronavirus after Mumbai and Pune, and 14 deaths have been reported from Malegaon. The state health ministry informed that five deaths each were reported from Pune and Jalgaon.

Meanwhile, one more policeman died of Coronavirus in the state. Till date, seven policemen from Maharashtra have lost their lives because of the pandemic, and 786 policemen have tested positive for Coronavirus. Out of these, 88 are officers. There have been 200 incidents of attack on the policemen implementing the lockdown, and 700 people have been arrested in this connection.
