83 soldiers killed in Houthi rebels attack in Yemen, Saudi supported Yemen

Sana: 83 soldiers were killed in an attack launched by the Houthi rebels on the Yemenis military base. The Yemen military informed that the Houthi rebels used missiles and drones to carry out the attack. Yemeni President Abd Mansur Hadi criticised that the Houthi rebels carried out a cowardly attack. The hopes of establishing a ceasefire in Yemen has been shattered because of this attack.

The Houthi rebels initiated the spate of dreaded attacks, almost after a gap of one month. The Marib military base, 170 kilometres from capital Sana, was targeted by the rebels on Saturday night. Yemen military informed that the Houthi rebels launched the attack, when the soldiers at the base, had assembled for their evening prayers, at the place of worship.

Yemen military informed that there was a large number of casualties in the attack. As per the information given by the local hospital, 83 soldiers were killed and 148 were injured. This is believed to be the most significant attack carried out by the Houthi rebels, in capital Sana, after 2014.

The Houthi rebels refused to talk about the attack. But as per media claims, this Houthi attack was in retaliation of the military action, initiated by the Yemen and Saudi military, in the Nihm region, a few hours ago. The Saudi and Yemenis military launched a massive military campaign, in the Nihm region, to the north of capital Sana. The Yemenis military sources said that the joint army of Saudi and Yemen succeeded in eliminating a large number of terrorists.

Yemeni President lambasted the rebels for attacking the soldiers in the place of worship. Yemeni President Hadi criticised that the Houthi rebels have shown with this cowardly attack, that they don’t want to hold peace talks. The Houthi rebels cannot see beyond carnage and devastation. The Houthi rebels aligned with Iran only to carry out destruction.

Meanwhile, the United States assassinated the number two Iranian leader, Qassem Soleimani, at the beginning of the month. After that, Iran and its affiliated groups had threatened to avenge the killing of General Soleimani. The Houthi rebels in Yemen also had issued a similar warning. Later the Yemeni military was placed on high-alert. But despite this, the Houthi rebels targeted the Yemen military.
