Two days ago, three rockets were fired at Israel from the southern Lebanese border. Israel has refrained from accusing Hezbollah, claiming that a pro-Palestinian terrorist group in Lebanon carried out the attacks. In response, Israel launched airstrikes on villages in Lebanon, where the rockets were fired from. There were no casualties on either side. Less than a few hours later, 19 rockets were fired at Israel on Friday morning from the Lebanese border. The Iron Dome, the air defence system deployed by Israel to deal with short-range rockets, successfully intercepted ten rockets. Six rockets landed in the Har Dov region of Israel. The remaining three missiles did not cross the Lebanese border.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack through a statement. Hezbollah said that it carried out the strikes in response to Israeli airstrikes. The Israeli army then shelled the Lebanese border. Defence Minister Benny Gantz left for Tel Aviv. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has called an emergency meeting of security agencies.

Israel had warned a few months ago that if Hezbollah launches a rocket attack on Israel, from inside the Lebanese border. The Lebanese government will be held fully responsible. Moreover, Israel would not be responsible for the consequences. Therefore, what action Israel will take in the wake of Hezbollah’s rocket attacks remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, despite Hezbollah launching rocket attacks on Israel, the Druze community on the Lebanese border is resisting the Hezbollah terrorists. It is claimed that Hezbollah had to stop rocket attacks because of the opposition from the Druze community.
