German Intelligence agencies spied on the ‘US’, reports a German daily

Berlin : A shocking information has come to light that  for several years now, the German Intelligence agencies have been spying on the White House, the residence of the US Presidents, along with other important agencies in the US. This information has been revealed by the German daily newspaper ‘Der Spiegel’. In the year 2013, the news that the ‘NSA’ in US had been spying on countries in Europe as well as many other countries, leaked out. There were fierce reactions to this from Germany and other European countries too. 

Since 1998, the German agency, ‘BND’ has been keeping a close watch on various US agencies and machineries says the report in ‘Der Spiegel’ The names of those included are the White House, the Foreign Ministry, ‘NASA’ the US Airforce and the Marine Corps. Besides the US agencies, International Institutions like the ‘NATO‘ and the ‘IMF’ had been spied upon by the German Intelligence agencies.

In 2013, a technocrat, Edward Snowden who worked for the ‘National Security Agency’ in US, made a lot of secret information of the agency, public. From this, an uproarious information was revealed that the US had been spying on various countries and their heads. There was a lot of adverse criticism on this spying from the friends of US in Europe
The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, in a strong criticism said that spying on friends is simply not allowed. She expressed her strong resentment to this to the then US President Barack Obama. As a result the relations between US and its friendly European  countries were under a strain for a while.
