The foundation of relations between India-China has been disturbed: Indian MEA S Jaishankar

Moscow – Indian MEA S Jaishankar, who is visiting Russia, presented the Indian stand-in precise words ‘Camaraderie is expected on the border to have healthy relations between the neighbouring countries. But tension has been created on the India-China border for the last one year. For the first time in the last 45 years, the border incidents had casualties. This has disturbed the very foundation of bilateral relations between India and China.’ At the same time, MEA Jaishankar said that the India-Russia relations could be seen as the strongest and the most matured bilateral relations since the second world war.

At this time, the Indian MEA was questioned regarding relations with China. While answering the question, MEA Jaishankar said that tension has been created in India-China relations and told in a diplomatic language that the Chinese aggression was responsible for it. Russia is trying to persuade India not to participate in the QUAD cooperation established by the western countries against Russia and China. But Jaishankar conveyed through the speech that India cannot remain quiet on this front, taking into account the Chinese aggression. Jaishankar also suggested to Russia in precise words that Russia should use its influence over China.

While making Russia aware of the festering relations with China, MEA Jaishankar underlined the importance of India-Russia relations. Many countries developed bilateral cooperation since the second world war. But the India-Russia relations are the strongest and the most mature. The MEA expressed satisfaction saying that the relations have gone from strength to strength, with time and new cooperation areas.

Jaishankar added ‘The stand adopted by the Indian and Russian leadership has a major positive impact on the bilateral relations. Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin have met 19 times since 2014. This itself is enough to underline the importance attached to the bilateral relations by the two countries. India is keen to welcome President Putin to India for bilateral talks.’
