Earthquake rocks Mizoram  

Aizawl: – The northeastern state of Mizoram, along with Bangladesh, were rocked by an earthquake. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. But house collapses were reported from some places in Mizoram. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised all the possible assistance to Mizoram. Earthquakes have rocked Delhi, Haryana, Jammu-Kashmir and Gujarat in the last few days.

On Sunday, in the evening, Mizoram was rocked by an earthquake of 5.1 magnitudes on the Richter scale. Following that, Mizoram was hit by an earthquake of 5.3 magnitudes on Monday evening. The quake was felt even in Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur. The epicentre of the quake was at Zokhawthar, in Champhai district, on the India-Myanmar border. Some houses collapsed in the earthquake. Cracks developed on the roads. Thereafter, the Mizoram government immediately undertook rescue operations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah promised all the possible aid to Mizoram.  

Neighbouring Bangladesh also was rocked by the earthquake. A few days ago, Delhi, Haryana, Jammu-Kashmir and Gujarat had been rocked by earthquakes. Jolts of the earthquake were being felt in Jammu-Kashmir for three successive days. The epicentre of the Jammu-Kashmir earthquake was in Tajikistan. 147 earthquakes have been reported from around the world, in the last week. On Friday, New Zealand was rocked by an earthquake of the magnitude of 7.4 Richter. A tsunami warning had been issued following the earthquake.
