Don’t increase enemies by referring Taliban as terrorists in Pakistan; Tehrik leader warns Pakistan media

Islamabad: Tehrik has threatened the Pakistani media and journalists should no longer refer to Tehrik-e-Taliban, as a terrorist and extremist organization. Doing so will not suit the impartiality that is part of your business. Also, be aware that this will only increase your enemies. The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) intensity has grown with the Taliban coming to power in Afghanistan. In such a scenario, the threat seems to have shocked the Pakistani media and journalists.

Pakistan, Taliban, Tehrik-i-Taliban, TerroristTehrik leader Mohammad Khorasani issued a letter warning the Pakistani news agencies and news channels and journalists and analysts. It is a mistake to refer to Tehrik as a terrorist and extremist organization when reporting the ongoing conflict between Pakistan’s security apparatus and Tehrik. Because in this struggle, the title given by one party to the other is imposed on them. At the same time, Khorasani warned the Pakistani media and journalists not to side with his government and army, saying accepting a party’s claims regarding itself will not be tolerated.

Khorasani told the Pakistani media that by taking the side of the Pakistani government and the army, you are proving that you are not impartial. But we are taking note of your biased reporting. ‘If you are referring to Tehrik as a terrorist, you are increasing the number of your enemies.’ Khorasan warned in the letter to the Pakistani media. This has caused a stir in Pakistan. As the news of this letter spreads, a new spate of terrorist attacks has started in Pakistan. Tehrik had openly claimed responsibility for the attacks. Therefore, the seriousness of this threat given by Tehrik to the media has increased tremendously.

For the past few weeks, the Pakistani government and military have been battling to let the Taliban form a government in Afghanistan.

This government is expected to operate under the influence of the Taliban. But some Pakistani journalists had expressed concern that the intervention in Afghanistan would shake the foundation of Pakistan. Former diplomats are also warning Imran Khan’s government against this.

The Pakistani media is looking at Afghanistan in the same light. Pakistan has accepted that the Taliban is not a terrorist organization that has caused bloodshed in Afghanistan. But Pakistan views the Tehrik-e-Taliban, which is part of the Afghan-Taliban, as a terrorist. Henceforth, Khorasani’s threat that this duplicity will not be tolerated may make Pakistan aware of the reality.

So far, Pakistan has claimed the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Taliban in Pakistan as independent groups. But with the Taliban coming to power in Afghanistan, the Taliban’s relationship with Tehrik-e-Taliban has become known to the world. Tehrik leaders were released from prison by the Taliban. Taliban leaders also rejected Pakistan’s demand for action against them. Some Pakistani journalists noted Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid, who is visiting Pakistan, did not protest the saboteur acts in Pakistan.

Despite this, the journalists said the Pakistani government is working for the Taliban, which is dangerous. Besides, former Pakistani military officials and analysts in Afghanistan strongly support the Taliban in the Pakistani media. Let Taliban take time until a government is formed in Afghanistan, after which it will tackle Tehrik. But the Taliban will never take action against its part, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), instead the Tehrik will strengthen with a Taliban government in Afghanistan.
