Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh holds talks with Chief Ministers of Arunachal and Nagaland

New Delhi: – On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met the Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Discussions regarding the projects in the states and other critical issues were held at this time. The Union Defence Minister, meeting the Chief Ministers of two states, from the northeast, becomes significant given the rising tension in Ladakh, between India and China.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu. The Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister said that important issues were discussed in the meeting. No details of the discussions have been published. The Chinese activities are on the rise on the Arunachal Pradesh border. This is said to be the background for the meeting. A few days ago, China had abducted five people from Arunachal Pradesh. China released these people after India exerted pressure. It is being said that the discussions centred around this issue.  

At the same time, discussions were held regarding the Ceithu airport at Kohima, with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. This airport is strategically vital. Meetings were also held regarding the Bokajan-Botsa road, being built by the Border Road Organisation.
