Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman becomes Prime Minister of Saudi

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud declared Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as the country’s new prime minister. All the sources of Saudi are, thus, already focused on Crown Prince Mohammed. In such a situation, there are indications that Prince Mohammed bin Salman is preparing to take a unique turn in Saudi’s internal politics by assuming the post of Prime Minister. The results of this have been seen and this has accelerated political movements in Saudi Arabia.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman, popularly known in media globally, including in the Middle East, as MBS, is the one who truly holds the reins of power in Saudi Arabia. Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has full authority to set the goals and direction of Saudi Arabia, announced Vision 2030 for Saudi Arabia. In this, the goal is to completely change the Saudi economy, which is dependent on the export of fuel, and create a new basis for the economy. Along with encouraging the use of technology per the changing times, Prince Mohammed has set the goal of promoting the creation of modern society. Also, Prince Mohammed took the initiative for other social reforms besides giving driving licenses to women. The changes he brought about in a conservative country like Saudi Arabia were significant.

Moreover, Prince Mohammed took the initiative to increase Saudi’s defence capability by making significant changes in Saudi foreign policy. He has initiated special efforts to develop self-sufficiency on the defence front. He has brought Saudi Arabia from a mere 2 per cent self-sufficiency to 15 per cent self-sufficiency on the defence front. At the same time, Prince Mohammed has also prepared to erase the identity of Saudi Arabia as a country that strictly follows the instructions of the United States. A few days ago, US President Joe Biden visited Saudi Arabia. At that time, Prince Mohammed dared to refuse to give Biden a ‘red carpet’ welcome. Prince Mohammed also refused to increase fuel production as per the demand made by Biden. After becoming the President of the United States, Biden made some decisions targeting Saudi Arabia and Prince Mohammed. It is said that this was Prince Mohammed’s reaction.

By saying that Israel is not an enemy of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed indicated that cooperation with Israel is also possible in the future. Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who gave a new direction to Saudi by accepting such a role, is now becoming the Prime Minister. This will enable them to run the Saudi government more effectively. King Salman’s presence and orders will no longer be required for this. As Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman can now take important decisions on his own.

King Salman has also given important posts to his other two sons, along with appointing Prince Mohammed as Prime Minister. Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman has been promoted as Defense Minister. In contrast, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman has been entrusted with the sources of the Saudi Energy Department. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Finance Minister Mohammad Al-Jadan have retained the same position.
