Number of Coronavirus cases in the country reaches 225,000

New Delhi: The rate of finding new cases of Coronavirus, has increased, in the country. Between Wednesday and Thursday evening, 260 Coronavirus deaths were reported and 9,304 new cases were added. This takes the total number of deaths in the country to over 6,000 and the total number of cases has reached near 217,000. But it is clear that after adding the information submitted by the states on Thursday night, the number has crossed 225,000. On Thursday, 123 deaths and 2,933 new cases of Coronavirus were reported from Maharashtra. 122 patients had died of the pandemic even on Wednesday, in the state.

Number of Coronavirus cases in the country reaches 225,000As informed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 139,000 tests were conducted in the country in 24 hours. Till date, 4.423 million tests have been conducted in the country. The number of cases is said to be rising because of the increased number of tests. The first case of Coronavirus was reported in the country, in January and it took 110 days for the number of cases to reach 100,000. The number of cases reached 100,000 on 18 May. The number took 15 days to increase from 100,000 to 200,000. The health ministry had announced on 2 June that the number of cases has crossed 200,000. Thereafter, the number of cases has increased by 25,000 in only three days.

In the last week, 8,000 cases were being reported per day. Now the number of new cases has increased to 9,000 in 24 hours. At the same time, the number of deaths due to Coronavirus also is increasing. On Thursday, 123 deaths were reported from Maharashtra alone. Of these 47 deaths were reported from Mumbai. There was an addition of 2,933 new cases in the state, including 1,442 cases from Mumbai. The number of deaths due to the pandemic, reported from Mumbai, is 1,465 and the number of cases has reached 44,704. There are 77,793 cases of Coronavirus in the state of Maharashtra.

Reports of medical and police personnel, working overtime to serve the patients, contracting the disease also are being received, every day, from the state of Maharashtra. Till date, 30 policemen have succumbed to Coronavirus infection and 2,557 policemen have contracted the infection. As per information, more than 500 doctors have been infected with Coronavirus.

After Mumbai, Delhi is showing the highest rate of increase in Coronavirus cases. On Thursday, 1,359 new cases were reported from Delhi, whereas 50 deaths and more than 1,500 new cases were reported, from Delhi, on Wednesday. This takes the total number of Coronavirus cases in Delhi to over 25,000. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan expressed concerns over the rising number of Coronavirus cases in Delhi. 606 deaths have been reported from Delhi so far. Tamil Nadu reported 12 deaths and 1,373 new cases in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in that state has crossed 27,000.
