Vaccination to start in India on the 16th of January

New Delhi: – Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the vaccination campaign would start in the country on the 16th of January. The Prime Minister said during the dialogue on the occasion of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas that the eyes of the entire world are focused on the Indian vaccination program. The Prime Minister underlined that the biggest vaccination campaign would be carried out in India.

The third dry run of Corona vaccination was carried out on Saturday. Massive preparations are being made all around the country. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) had approved two vaccines on Sunday. These include the Covishield vaccine developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca and manufactured at Serum Institute of India. The Covaxin vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also has been approved for emergency use.   

Against this background, Prime Minister Modi announced that the vaccination campaign would start from the 16th of January. In the first phase, 20 million health workers, volunteers and police, directly involved in the battle against Coronavirus will receive the vaccine. The Union Health Minister had declared that the vaccine would be given free to these people. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi asserted that India, who has established its place as the ‘World Pharmacy,’ is fully geared up for the Coronavirus vaccination program. The Indian population will receive a vaccine manufactured in India. The Indian vaccines will play a vital role in the final decisive battle against the Coronavirus and prove humanity’s blessing. Therefore, the attention of the entire world is focused on India. The whole world is watching how India goes about implementing this humungous vaccination campaign.
