Coronavirus deaths in India cross 12,000

New Delhi: – 3,017 Coronavirus deaths have been reported from the country in just four days, and more than 45,000 new cases have been reported. On Tuesday, the Maharashtra government announced 1,409 deaths which had occurred in the state. Due to this, the number of deaths in the country in one day was 2,003, taking the total number of deaths in the country to 11,903. This number crossed 12,000 by Wednesday night. Maharashtra reported 114 deaths in 24 hours. Tamil Nadu also reported 48 deaths.

By the end of 24 hours, on Wednesday morning, 10,994 new Coronavirus cases were reported, taking the total number of Coronavirus cases in the country to 354,065. Whereas, the number reached beyond 360,000 by night. There were 114 Coronavirus deaths in the state of Maharashtra, and 3,307 new cases were reported. This took the total number of Coronavirus deaths and cases in the state, to 5,651 and 116,752 respectively. Mumbai reported 77 Coronavirus deaths, while Pune reported 12 deaths and 460 new cases in 24 hours. 

The number of Coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu crossed 50,000. Tamil Nadu is the second Indian state to cross the 50,000 mark, and there were 2,174 new Coronavirus cases reported from the state in 24 hours. The number of cases in Delhi also has reached near 50,000. It was revealed that Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain has also contracted Coronavirus infection. 

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh and the governor of Jammu and Kashmir. These states account for more than 85% of the total Coronavirus cases in the country. Therefore, the union government is paying special attention to these states. The Prime Minister advised during the meeting to strengthen the health systems and increase the rate of Coronavirus screening.
