China to conduct five simultaneous war drills

Beijing: – China is preparing for a show of strength, by holding five war exercises simultaneously, in the marine regions of the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, East China Sea and the South China Sea. Even last month, China had flexed its muscles by holding four war exercises. Whereas, the United States had issued a warning to China by sending a long-range surveillance aircraft. Meanwhile, since the last few days, the Chinese marine claims are being challenged by Japan, Taiwan and the South East Asian countries. Against this background, China seems to be flexing its muscles to dominate this region.

The website says that advanced Chinese destroyers are involved in four simultaneous war exercises. These include two exercises in the Paracel Islands region and one in the East China Sea. Whereas, there is one exercise each in the Yellow Sea, near the South Korean capital and in the Bohai sea. All the foreign ships have been banned entry into the region during the exercises. China has organised naval exercises, even in the past, for the readiness of the navy. But organising naval exercises in four marine regions, twice in two months, is a bit strange.

Even last month, China held simultaneous naval exercises, in all the four marine regions. China had warned that these exercises are for the sovereignty of its maritime sector and no other country should interfere in them. Still the United States issued a warning to China, by sending a long-range surveillance aircraft to the South China Sea sector. China expressed anger over the surveillance and threatened the United States. But in the next few days, the Philippines and Indonesia from the South East Asian countries challenged China by adopting an uncompromising stand regarding the naval exercises and Chinese aggression in the region.

It is also being claimed that Japan also has retaliated strongly against China, with an increase in patrolling in the South China Sea region and sending its fishing boats in the marine region near Senkaku Islands. The tension in the Taiwanese maritime region and the airspace also is increasing. The Chinese mouthpiece warned that if the United States military lands in Taiwan, the force will be used to merge Taiwan into China. The United States has not made any announcement of deploying the military in Taiwan. Still, China, restless because of the increasing military cooperation between the United States and Taiwan, is issuing these threats.
