China continues adamancy at Ladakh LAC

New Delhi: – China had agreed to withdraw its military from Gogra, Hot Spring and Depsang regions on the LAC in Ladakh. But, in the 11th round of talks between the Indian and Chinese military officials, it refused to comply with this and China once again maintained its image of a betrayer. The details of the talks are now being released in the media. At the same time, it is exposed that China is making fresh efforts to pressurise India on the LAC in Ladakh. China seems to be recruiting Tibetan youth in its army for this purpose.

China gives unsolicited advice that India should express satisfaction over the progress made after the round of talks between the countries’ militaries. Besides, it is trying to convey that the festering tensions in this region would be lethal to India. At the same time, China has started recruiting Tibetan youth in its military for deployment in Ladakh. It is claimed that the process of this recruitment has been started since the beginning of this year. Chinese soldiers could not withstand the winter in Ladakh. The Chinese soldiers froze in the chilling winter in Ladakh and they had to be repeatedly hospitalised. China had not prepared to face the chilling winter in Ladakh and the Chinese military had to bear the brunt.

The Chinese military’s claims might take a severe hit after the reports that the Chinese army froze in the Ladakh winter appeared in the media. It was accepted even by the western analysts that the Indian soldiers were dominating the LAC in Ladakh. Therefore, the border dispute in this region became a prestige issue for China. After realising that even war threats did not affect India, China accepted military withdrawal from the Pangong Lake region. Accordingly, China withdrew from the region, but it is unwilling to withdraw from the Gogra, Hot Spring and Depsang regions. Instead, China is plotting to use the Tibetan youth for new deployments in the region.

The Chinese military does not have the practice to operate in the Ladakh sector. The Chinese military cannot sustain the winter in the region. Therefore, China is preparing to use Tibetan youth for this purpose. Reports that China has deployed missiles on a large scale in Tibet have already been published. But India is closely monitoring all these Chinese activities. Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane and Defence Chief General Bipin Rawat have repeatedly asserted that. At the same time, Indian leaders and military officials have started issuing stern warnings to China openly. This is adding to the Chinese restlessness.
