This increasing Chinese aggression poses a major challenge to the EU in the diplomatic, economic, security and technology sectors. It could have long term and significant effects on the global systems. This poses a threat to the rules-based multilateral systems and democracy.’

The report of the EU Parliament also mentions issues like the monopolistic regime in China, atrocities against the Uyghurs, human rights, Belt and Road initiative and Hongkong. The report also talks about some recommendations, including sanctions against certain Chinese officials and political boycott of the winter Olympics in China.

The EU and China have been at loggerheads consistently for the last few months.
