Afghanistan, Jalalabad, Bomb blast, Taliban, IS,In the past two months, the attacks on Taliban militants in Jalalabad, the capital of Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province, have increased since the Taliban took control of Kabul. So far, IS has claimed responsibility for attacks on Taliban terrorists. IS has threatened to step up attacks on the Taliban, accusing the Taliban of regaining power after negotiating with Western countries. The IS has also said that the Taliban is not the organisation it was 20 years ago. Therefore, IS is believed to be behind the blast that targeted a Taliban vehicle on Saturday.

Two days ago, the IS terrorists blew up an electric tower supplying electricity to regions north of Kabul. The electric supply to this region was disrupted after the blast. The Taliban is also claimed to have taken action against IS militants. In Nangarhar province alone, 50 IS militants have been arrested in a Taliban operation in Kuz Kunar and Haska Meyna districts.

International analysts and human rights organisations have expressed concern that the people of Afghanistan are bearing the brunt of this conflict between the Taliban and IS. At the same time, the human rights organisations have accused that the Taliban is perpetrating atrocities against the minorities in Afghanistan to appease its extremist supporters. Patricia Gossman, associate director for the Asia division of Human Rights Watch, accused the Taliban terrorists of evicting the people of Hazara and other minorities from their houses and capturing their lands in the provinces of Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan, Daykundi and Balkh. Over the past month, there have been shocking incidents of the Taliban shooting and killing minorities and beheading female athletes.

Meanwhile, clashes between two Taliban factions have erupted in Afghanistan‘s Herat province. According to media reports, this includes a group that disagrees with the Taliban regime in Kabul. At the same time, there are reports that the former Afghan army officers have joined hands with IS Khorasan. Some members of the Afghan army have joined the Northern Resistance Force, which is fighting the Taliban. Therefore, the claims that the Taliban will establish peace and stability in Afghanistan have been dispelled. At the same time, a new phase of bloody conflict in Afghanistan seems to have begun with the Taliban in power.
