Following the Galwan Valley incident, India has delivered many economic blows to China. The effects of these blows are visible now. More than 200 Chinese investment proposals are pending because of the absence of home ministry clearance, following the amendments made to the FDI rules to stop the Chinese predatory investments.

The tendering rules also were amended to stop the entry of Chinese companies from bagging government contracts. There are orders issued to the telecom companies not to award contracts to Chinese telecom companies like Huawei and ZTE. These companies have been kept out of the 5G implantation process. Therefore, Huawei seems to have lost its Indian market. The company is reducing 60 Indian employees and has scaled down its revenue target by 50%.

The Indian Ambassador to Russia clarified the Indian stand that there would be no trade with China unless China withdraws its soldiers from Ladakh and the border tension is completely diffused. Against this background, reports of a ban on 47 more Chinese apps are being received. Last month, the Indian government banned 59 Chinese apps. This caused immense losses to the companies owning these apps. The aspirations of these companies for global expansion have been severely hit because of the ban. It has been reported that the company running TikTok has started winding up its operations in India.

The apps banned by the Indian government on Monday are the clone versions of the previously prohibited apps. These include apps like TikTok light, SHAREit light, Big Light and Vigo light. The government had already issued orders to remove these apps from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The government has put 275 more apps under strict surveillance. These apps are being continuously reviewed. These Include PUBG app run by Tencent along with Zili, Aliexpress, Resso, Ulike, Capak, Lbe Tech, Perfect Corp, Sina Corp and Netties Games. Two of these apps are connected to the Chinese company Alibaba.
