Acquisition of Tibet was the beginning for China, warns chief of Tibetan government-in-exile

New Delhi: The Chief of Tibetan government-in-exile, Dr Lobsang Sangay, warned, ‘India suffered huge losses after Chinese acquisition of Tibet, the buffer zone between India and China. The Indian border became insecure, and the expenses on military multiplied. But this Chinese acquisition of Tibet is just a beginning. The attack on the Indian soldiers in the Galwan Valley only goes to prove this. China believes that Tibet is the palm for China and that Ladakh, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh are the fingers. The ambition of the Chinese communist regime is to take control of these territories.’ Sangay issued a stern warning that the entire international community is under threat from China.

Acquisition of Tibet was the beginning for China, warns chief of Tibetan government-in-exileDr Lobsang Sangay appealed to the international community and India to be cautious about the malicious Chinese intentions while speaking at a function organised by the Centre for Democracy, Pluralism and Human Rights in New Delhi. China will never sit quietly after engulfing Tibet. China is working on the plan to acquire Ladakh, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. Sangay said that this is the Chinese foreign policy and the attack on the Indian soldiers in the Galwan Valley was a part of the policy’s implementation. Whatever is happening in Tibet is the Chinese blueprint. The same is happening in Xinjiang and Hong Kong. Sangay made an earnest appeal that India should learn a lesson from this and deal with China.

Diversity, variety, human rights and freedom are the factors keeping India united. Diversity is the foundation of India. But China believes in imposing dictatorship, and China is experimenting with it in Asia. Saying that the Indian development policy, promoting diversity, is more beneficial than China’s unilateral and monopolistic policies, Sangay cautioned the world along with China.

The Chinese expansionist policies will prove dangerous for the world. There is a need for the international community to exhibit more caution on this front without wasting any time. Dr Lobsang Sangay added that this is the time to confront China on the trampling of human rights in Tibet and Xinjiang.

Under the pretext of alleviation of poverty, China is settling people from the mainland in Tibet. The plan is to wipe out the cultural identity of Tibet. These monopolistic and unilateral actions are not sustainable in this world. The Chinese model is the development under dictatorships without any space for democracy. Sangay underlined India’s importance, saying that the Indian development model, through democracy, is the best.
