Simla : Election was conducted for all 68 Assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. 74% voter turnout was reported at the time while the result for this election will be declared on December 18.
Election campaign or propaganda activity of all parties which was going on from past few days has come to a halt on Monday. As seen in the last few elections, large number of voters was expected to turn up for this election too.
After the polling began at 8 am, only 13% voter turnout was recorded within the first two hours. Later, the queue at the polling station grew larger. 64% voter turnout was recorded till 4 pm in the evening. While the number went up to 74 % in the last hour. It is said that this election is leading the last Assembly election in Himachal Pradesh by 1%.
No inappropriate incidents were reported during the election. Voting at Kinnaur polling station was delayed due to some technical problem. 337 candidates contested for 68 seats in the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh.
