Panaji: – The crime branch of the Goa Police, raided a rave party on Saturday night and seized a huge haul of narcotic substances. 23 people have been arrested in this connection and they include 3 foreigner women. The government has restricted citizen movements, given the Coronavirus pandemic. It has been revealed that such illegal rave parties are being organised, ignoring the government instructions.
The rave party had been organised in the Firangipani Villas at Vagator, in Goa, on Saturday night. The Goa Crime Branch received a tipoff regarding the party. The crime branch laid a trap and raided the rave party. Police arrested 23 people along with the organisers. There were narcotic substances worth nearly ₹950,000 at the location, which were seized. These included the dangerous Ecstasy tablets, MDMA and Cocaine.
It has been revealed that three women, two Russians and one from the Czech Republic, had organised the party. The women have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Charges have been levied on the others too, for not following social distancing norms in a public place. The police said that other suspects, who had attended the party are also being looked for. Mukesh Kumar Meena, Director General of Goa Police, informed about the police action through a tweet.
The Coronavirus pandemic has severely hit the tourism sector in Goa. It is said that such small rave parties are organised to attract tourists. A few days ago, action was taken on a similar party organised by the youth from the high society. The police got the information regarding the party, following a bitter fight between the youth and the organisers.
It has been revealed that such parties are being arranged even in Delhi, paying no heed to social distancing. 72 people have been arrested, in Delhi, for organising such parties, in the last one month. Large hauls of narcotic substances also were seized during these actions.
